Adult Amateur
Quilts

Category 1

A quilt I have designed, assembled and quilted by myself on a domestic machine.

Category 2A

A quilt I have made in a workshop or from a kit or published pattern and machine quilted myself on a domestic machine.

Category 2B

A quilt I have made in a workshop or from a kit or published pattern and machine quilted by myself on any long arm quilting machine without the help of a professional quilter.

Category 2C

A quilt that has been machine pieced and hand quilted.

Category 3

A quilt entirely handmade and hand quilted.

Category 4A

A quilt I have designed, assembled and quilted on a commercial quilting machine.

Category 4B

A quilt made in a workshop, or from a kit or published pattern, and quilted on a commercial quilting machine.

Category 5

A Textile Art / Pictorial Quilt.
Reflecting a break with tradition, the work as a whole should be an original design with no similarity to the work of another artist. It must be made primarily of fabric and may incorporate embellishments.

Category 6

A small quilt.
No one side longer than 1.5m.

Category 7A

A quilt featuring machine embroidery.

Category 7B

A quilt featuring hand embroidery.

Category 8

The first quilt the entrant has made.

Category 9

A Modern Quilt
Modern quilting is a fresh approach, reflecting each quilter’s personality and personal style. The quilt should embrace functionality, simplicity, and minimalism, use asymmetric designs and reinterpret traditional blocks and patterns, which are often inspired by modern art and architecture.

Embroidery

Category 10

An item featuring hand embroidery - Entrants original design.

Category 11

An item featuring hand embroidery - worked in a class or from a kit.

Category 12

An item featuring hand embroidery - a beginners piece.

Category 12A

Advanced Embroiderers - having won significant prizes at previous shows.

Home Décor and Accessories

These categories can include any quilted or ebmbroidered items, made for functional home use or for decoration, including but not limited to cushions, hand and shoulder bags, etc.

Category 13A

Textile Art (a home décor or accessory item)

Category 13B

Handwork / Hand Embroidery (a home decor or accessory item)

Category 13C

Machine Quilting & Patchwork (a home décor or accessory)


CHILDRENS SECTION

Category 14

14A

A Garment constructed by a Child.

14B

An accessory constructed by a Child - e.g. bag, hat, etc.

14C

A Home Décor item - e.g. Wall hanging, cushions, quilt, toys etc

Junior Amateur (High School Student)

Category 15

A garment

A home décor item - can include any quilted or embroidered items, eg wall hanging quilt, cushion, etc.

An accessory - can include hand and shoulder bags, toys etc.

First and Second prize will be awarded in each of the above categories, if four (4) or more entries are received

Quilts

All Quilts that are entered for judging are eligible to be judged for this category. Visitors to the Exhibition will be invited to vote for their favourite quilt displayed in the Extravaganza. Prizes are allocated to the quilt receiving the most votes from the viewing public

Embroidery and Home Décor

All Embroidery and Home Décor items that are entered for judging are eligible for this category. Visitors to the Exhibition will be invited to vote for their favourite Embroidered or Home Décor piece displayed in the Extravaganza.
Prizes are allocated to the Embroidery or Home Décor piece receiving the most votes from the viewing public.
